“Jack!” shouted Kat, shaking him by the shoulder. “Jack! Wake up. Ben and Kyle are back!”

“Alright, I’m awake,” he mumbled, rubbing his temples. He had successfully managed to have a vision, completely control it, and even kill his father. It looked like Kat’s deviance had fixed his own. It didn’t stop him from having a headache coming back around, though. Maybe that was part of being inside someone else’s head for so long.

Jack sat up, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, feeling slightly disappointed. All he needed was one more moment to watch the light forever leave his father’s eyes. What terrible timing! He at least had the comforting knowledge now that he had killed him. That he also did it with his own hands, so to speak. Taking a deep breath, he forced himself to remember where he was and to calm down.

“Well?” asked Kat, looking at him expectingly, “Did it work? What did you see?”

“Couldn’t you tell I was having a vision?” he replied. “My Mom and Ben always seemed to know.”

“You were spark out. You hadn’t moved a muscle from when I left the room,” explained Kat, “What’s happened?”

“I did it. I killed him. He knew it was me too.” Jack said. He felt no remorse for killing the General at all. All he felt was relief, and the weight of the responsibility that he had put on himself to carry out the act had lifted from his shoulders.

Kat was shocked. She took a few steps back from her cousin and looked at him.

“You were only supposed to do recon for the resistance,” she whispered. “You have done something terrible, Jack. You may have done more harm than good. I hope you managed to find out some information before he died.”

Jack closed his eyes briefly to recall what had happened and the information he had gathered for the resistance. He needed to tell Marcus immediately.

The two cousins raced towards the meeting room, where everyone except for Kyle and Marcus was already seated. They all stared at them as they entered. Ben smiled at his best friends, looking more optimistic after spending time with Kyle. They had only just arrived and were still in their outdoor gear. Ben’s backpack was on the floor next to him.

“Marcus, I need to tell you something before you start,” Jack said, a little out of breath. “It is crucial. I had a vision….”

“Are you sure it was a vision and not a dream?” Marcus asked, looking a little concerned.

“Yes, I am sure of it.” Jack felt determined that what he saw was true, and his responsibility was to pass on what he had found out. He could feel the others’ eyes all on him, some doubtful of his abilities.

“What did you see?” asked Kyle, rubbing his still-wounded shoulder. He looked tired from his scouting trip and wanted to go to sleep.

“Here,” Kat said gently, touching Kyle’s arm. “Feel better?”

“Wow, yes,” he said, flexing his shoulder, “Thank you, how did you…”

“I killed my father,” Jack blurted out.
